What are Smart Awards?
Smart Awards are financial grants made available by the DTI
to individuals and small businesses in the UK wishing to develop an innovative product
with demonstrable market potential. These awards are won
on a competitive basis through the Government Office for
London (or the relevant regional Government Office).

What is the London Smart Winners Club?
The purpose of our Club is to
encourage and support networking and mutual support among
winners of Smart awards.
We hold about three meetings a year
at venues in central London, often hosted or sponsored by our
supporters. Recent meetings have been held at London
Business School, The British Library, HSBC Head Office, Taylor
Joynson Garrett (solicitors), PriceWaterhouseCoopers (accountants)
and Government Office for London. Meetings usually consist
of talks on a chosen subject by an expert and by a member of the
Club, followed by a general discussion. Food and wine are
usually provided, with plentiful opportunities to meet and chat
with other members.
The Club also provides an Email
Network - a powerful tool for email networking between
members.
Club members benefit from special
offers including free subscription to the British Library's
'inside' web service, which normally costs £950pa.
Our core members are winners of
Smart awards who are in the London area.
Winners from other regions are most welcome to visit or join us.
Winners of Spur awards are also eligible.
Our Club is also open to firms who
provide support or other services to small technology-based firms.
These members include banks, patent agents, solicitors,
accountants, specialist consultants, and government bodies.

Membership for the current year is just
£60+VAT for Smart winners and £100+VAT for others.
Some of the areas of this site can only be accessed by
members of the Club.
