Email Network
The Club's Email Network service allows members to contact all other
members enrolled in the Network. For example:
- To find a source of expertise
- To find potential collaborators
- To find solutions to problems
- To share a recommendation
Look upon it as a first rate method of networking with skilled
individuals working in business sectors or technologies that may be
different from your own.
How does it work?
Once enrolled, all you do is send the email that you want
to be sent out to the Email Network to
smart-club@majordomo.poptel.org.uk.
The Club's software does the rest.
Note: the software only accepts plain ASCII text
mails, so your email program must be set up to send in this format.
The software will reject emails in rich text or html or
with attachments (such as images).
If your mail program is not set to ASCII, you will still receive mails,
but you will not be able to post.
How do I enrol?
Club members who supply their email addresses are
automatically enrolled into the Email Network.
Other people in Member organisations can enrol in the
Email Network by sending the following message:
subscribe smart-club <your e-mail address>
(omitting the angle brackets) in the body of a plain text e-mail to:
majordomo@majordomo.poptel.org.uk
Enrolment to the Email Network is administered by John
Thirtle who can be contacted on j.thirtle@maran.co.uk.
How do I leave the Email Network?
You can leave the Email Network at any time and rejoin at
any time. To leave the Email Network, just send the following message:
unsubscribe smart-club <your e-mail address>
(omitting the angle brackets) in the body of a plain text e-mail to:
majordomo@majordomo.poptel.org.uk
What are the rules
for participating in the Email Network?
Please behave with the same courtesy and accountability
as would apply in face-to-face exchanges at Club meetings. Say who you
are, and do not 'spam' the Email Network with self-promoting
messages.
Messages are not moderated.
It will not be the Club's fault if participants abuse the system and
we disclaim
responsibility for unsocial behaviour, and worse.
Is there an Archive of past messages?
The Email Network Archive contains all the messages which have
been posted.
To go to the archive, follow this
link.
